Smirti: Baking Her Way to Success
At Higher Ground Community Development Nepal, we believe in providing opportunities to marginalized communities to help them achieve their dreams. Smirti B.K. is a testament to the success of our approach.
Smirti grew up in the suburbs of Kathmandu valley with her sister and parents. Her father, a teacher in a government school, was blind which made it difficult for him to earn a decent wage. As a result, the family struggled to make ends meet.
We met Smirti through our Skill Development Training Program and noticed her passion for baking. She did advanced baking training at Higher Ground Bakery and showed exceptional talent and skill with her new craft. We were so impressed with her dedication and hard work that we offered her a job at Higher Ground Bakery.
“God has opened doors for me, and I’m very grateful for that,” says Smirti with a huge smile and gratitude, “Higher Ground has given me the opportunity to develop my skills and pursue my passion for baking. I am now able to support my family and have a better life.”
Smirti’s success is a reminder of the importance of providing opportunities for skill development and training to marginalized communities. With her passion for baking, she hopes to establish herself as a successful entrepreneur in the baking industry and open her own bakery shop in her hometown.
We are proud to have been a part of Smirti’s journey, and we wish her all the best in her future plans. Her story is a reminder that with the right opportunities and support, people can overcome their challenges and achieve their dreams.
