No Limitations!
HGCDN takes pride in providing Micro Enterprise Development (MED) funds to women who have the skills, dedication, and passion to start their businesses. Kamala BK is one such recipient who has tasted the freedom of being financially independent after getting assistance from the organization.
Kamala BK, a single mother with blindness, was always passionate about cooking. In 2020, she got an opportunity to learn baking at the NAB India Centre for Blind Women and Disability Studies and fell in love with it. Being a visionary, she wanted to start a bakery and applied for our MED fund. Impressed by her vision and desire to inspire the blind community, we provided her with Rs. 50,000 seed money.
She quickly became a local hero and an inspiration after opening her bakery cafe, Hario Kharka’ (Green Pasture). People love her bakery items, especially her cupcakes. She also gets support from her daughter in baking and managing the finances. She expresses gratitude to Higher Ground for helping her to become financially independent. Her story proves that even with physical limitations, people can overcome their challenges and achieve their dreams.
